In Fall 2001 I started a study course for 'Technical Computing' at the
University of Applied Sciences in Mittweida which is near Chemnitz in
Saxony/Germany.
This course is meant for people who already have a degree from a University
and want to do a study besides their normal job. The course lasts 3 semester
in which you have to attend lectures in Mittweida every second Saturday . At
the end of each semester you have to spend a week in Mittweida during
which practical exercises are held and examinations are written. The fourth
and last semester is reserved for writing the diploma theme.
The following 9 areas are covered in the studies:
- Methodology of Programming
- Computerarchitecture
- Mikroprocessor- and Microcontroller
- Business Administration and Business Law
- Analog and Digital Electronic Components
- Operating Systems
- Signals and Systems
- Computernetworks
- CAD/CAE
In February 2003 I finished the third
semester. Then I took a break for 2 semesters to find a diploma theme with
my employer PTC. Unfortunately I did not succeed to set up a appropriate
theme so at last I took a theme from the university.
The title of my diploma was "Concept and adaptation of a web based
Event-Management-System using PHP and MySQL".
I finished my studies on September, 24th 2004 and was nominated as
Diplom-Ingenieur (FH) für Technische Informatik
I am very glad to have finished this project after 3 years of
hard work. If somebody is interested here is a link to my diploma.
